I know Canon and Nikon own the world, sigh, but Pentax gear absolutely rocks, always has, and I'm not afraid to say so. Besides the Beatles used Pentax cameras for years. If they're cool enough for John Lennon they're cool enough for ME. ;) Actually Nikon and Canon owe a lot to Pentax. They were pioneers in a lot of things camera-wise. Canon and Nikon have taken over the market but Pentax is still a contender and they still make top notch stuff. The K-x and the K-5 have been real game changers though. There are more and more people jumping into owning Pentax. It's nice they are getting the respect they deserve again.

Like I said I like Nikon too but I'd never sell my Pentax gear to buy Nikon. I just know I'd regret that too much. Have both, sure, but nobody touches my Pentax gear. Obviously I am a rabid Pentax evangelist, grin. But I know what I like in a camera. Besides my lovely K-x I also shoot with 50 year old SPII's, a Spottie F and a couple of K1000's. I own a lot of film bodies actually. Some Nikon, Minolta and older Yashica stuff. It's all good gear but 9 times out of 10 if I head out the door to shoot I've got a Pentax of some kind in my hand. I just love them.

Look down and you'll see George in a pic holding one. John was more into them actually. He even dropped one into the brine while filming "Help" once. Pity that. Waste of a darned good camera. They even had a gag drum kit that said Beatax. They were sponsored by Pentax I think.

I didn't know that about the Beatles, but that just makes Pentax a billion times more awesome. XD

Wow, thanks for all the info! I knew I could count on this forum for solid advice. I hadn't been looking at Pentax but now that I am, it's probably safe to say that the new camera will be from their line.
