Disenchantment ?

I got my Delilah dark and defiant as my first doll before I knew what BJD's really were.
I am finding myself more and more disappointed with her and unhappy with her lack of pose-ability.
Today I found myself moving her eyes and cutting her wig trying to make her as 'alive' as my other
bjds.
I am sad at my reaction to her....
I dont like her open mouth and 'dead' eyes, and the way her neck is bent forward.
I love her, but feel less so...
What am I to do?

I totally love my Delilah's but then again I don't have anything to compare her to. D&D is a bit odd. She's got that weird gray to her skin tone. She's more like a fashion doll than a proper BJD, I'd guess, but then again she's not as expensive as most BJD's either. At this point you've got other more posable dolls you're more into. I'd either sell her and put the money towards a doll you do want or give her a new face up if you are going to keep her. If you're not really into loving her then it's probably better that she finds another home with someone who will flaws and all. I tend to look at Delilah Noir as a bit of a gateway doll. As an intro to BJD's she's the next best thing to a proper BJD but she is what she is.

It all comes down to what you want in your dolls. I have lots of resin bjds, lots of obitsu and two delilah noirs. Sure, they don't pose the same, but I bought them because I liked them for what they were, so they don't bother me I knew what I was getting. If now that you have seen others and you aren't happy then you probably should sell her.

"She is what she is"......
I guess that is what I should do, accept her for who she is and stop trying to change her into something she is not.
She is a very loving mother to my YO & tiny's.
Anakin and she are inseparable.
I think perhaps I was taking out personal frustrations on her- I could see it made her sad.
Being a doll's human is a new thing for me,
it is very evident when you are trying to force something upon them that they cannot accept-
It hurts you as much as them.
Thank you for your replies <3

I am new to this forum. I have 1 bjd girl and she is Delilah Noir (debut doll), 16" vinyl. I am not familiar with bjd girl sculpts. I was very troubled when I found out about Delilah's resemblance to Narae.
I try to care for Delilah like my resin bjds. But there are things I cannot let Delilah do. Recently, I bought her a beautiful OOAK designer party dress for the IDEX convention this April. I wanted her to participate in the BJD contest during the BJD party mixer on Saturday night organized by Angelic Dreamz, one of her retailers. Unfortunately as the event draws near, I am unwilling to let Delilah represent me for that contest. It's her resemblance to Narae that bothers me greatly. I will let one my resin bjds enter the contest. The contest is not about winning but participation and representation because there will be many-many dolls participating. Now, Delilah is all dressed but not joining the party. She is very beautiful. I feel sorry for her but she is what she is.
As for Delilah's friends. I prefer to group her with the BJDs. Besides slim Asian MSDs like Narae and Resin Soul dolls, she can make friends with Eurepean 16" resin bjds like those made by German artist Sonja Hartmann. The Hanna Montana doll by Ashton Drake is a natural friend and sister.

Why does her resemblance to Narae bother you? Actually, I didn't think they look that much alike. Different face shape and eye shape.

I agree. The more I get to know my D's the less she really looks like a Narae to me. I can see why some might think so because in terms of size they're very close and they both have a similar sort of young and dreamy look to them, but the actual resemblance as in sculpt similarity is really not all that great. They could be sisters maybe but D is very different looking to me than Narae. I like her better than Narae actually. I think D has a more interesting face, but that's just MHO.

It depends on which version of Narae you are referring to for comparison. There is one version of Narae that look very much like Delilah Noir. If you go into the DoA market place and search "Narae" under MSD sized dolls for sale, one of the sales threads will show a Narae that is looks like Delilah except caste in French resin. The sales thread was there last week, not sure if it is still there now. I took a screen shot of that photo but cannot show it since the photo did not belong to me. That was what caused alarm and disappointment. Delilah does not resemble every version of Narae, only that particular model. I think, that must be an old sculpt. I don't have the interest to acquire that Narae at this point in time, otherwise, I do think she and Delilah can be friends. Whatever happened to cause the similarity, Delilah Noir is already made and it is not her fault that she is so similar to Narae. Delilah owners still have to love and protect her interest just like any other dolls. Ashton Drake should name Delilah's designer.

Hey Mica!
I'm sorry to hear about your Delilah Doll, that is kinda sad. But If you're unhappy about her, you could probably sell her, like Greyhaunt says. But I think ultimately you may regret it. You probably wont recover the full cost of her, so you may want to get her modded somehow. I have a Delilah Noir, and I'm really happy with her. I was starting to get bored with her so I bought her some new clothes and a new wig, now i'm pretty happy with her! I don't think she is as pretty as my Iplehouse Luna, she doesn't compare, but I still think she is pretty in her own way. I also have problems with her feet, they are...curvy and I cant put on flat shoes. They say you'll ruin her feet if you try to take them off, so I haven't tried yet...Im not really into the goth/death look on any doll, even though Delilah herself is more of a goth doll. But if it is done right, I appreciate its art. Im not sure why Ashton drake released Delilah Dark and Defiant, but it might not have been one of their better business moves...IMHO.

Thank you all.
I think I was suffering from cabin fever/ chronic depression.
I had the flu recently and she serenaded me with her guitar- such a loving girl she is!
I did replace her feet with flat ones, definitely worth it so she can wear sneakers!
Oh, and the first thing to go were those black lips LoL
