i don't exclusively want big dolls, if you look up, you'll see that i was just warming up to the idea of having a baby hujoo (12cm) as a doll... XD but for the most part, yes, i prefer my dolls in the 62-100cm range~! ^^
i think it's a western ideal that dolls have to be small... i never shared that ideal~!
also, i don't think i'd ever trust someone enough to send them a doll i really love, any more than i would send my dog or my child (I don't have either, but if i did - just for comparison) to someone... if anything, i'd fly to wherever the artist lived and carry my doll there myself, and not leave her side~! i don't have any trust issues with people, i just also wouldn't think of my dolls as just "things" ^^;
I don't know if it is a western ideal- I just love having a pocket doll who travels everywhere with me.
I laughed when I read this. I learned to do face-ups so i wouldn't have to send a doll away. I can do an adequate job, but when I needed a particular look-I broke down after 6 months and sent my very favorite resin doll for a professional face-up. I was more afraid of the mail system than anything else. But, it was the best decision I could have made-she now looks like I imagined she would.

It was much easier to send 3 boy heads to be done before they got put together and dressed.
